Independent McKenzie Friend support in England & Wales — not a solicitor or barrister

Services

Practical help, shaped around where you are.

You remain in control of your case. My role is to help you make sense of the process, organise your material and prepare to present your own position clearly.

  • Organising relevant documents
  • Preparing a concise chronology
  • Identifying points you may wish to raise
  • Keeping your presentation child-focused
02

Practical organisation and preparation for financial proceedings following divorce or civil partnership dissolution.

I can help with:

  • Preparing document checklists
  • Structuring questions and key points
  • Preparing for an FDR or final hearing
03

Court preparation

Focused preparation before a family court hearing, whether it is your first appearance or a later stage.

I can help with:

  • Making sense of orders and deadlines
  • Creating an indexed working file
  • Developing a clear speaking note
  • Preparing questions for the hearing
  • Planning the practicalities of the day

Working together

Support before and, where agreed, during court

One-to-one preparation

Online sessions focused on the practical task in front of you. We agree the scope before starting.

Document organisation

Help to bring structure to your own papers. I do not sign, file or formally conduct proceedings on your behalf.

Hearing support

Subject to availability, agreement and the court’s permission, I may attend to provide moral support, take notes, help with papers and quietly assist you.

Clear boundaries

What a McKenzie Friend can — and cannot — do

Usually can

  • Provide moral support
  • Take notes
  • Help organise case papers
  • Quietly offer practical assistance

Cannot routinely

  • Address the court or question witnesses
  • Sign court documents for you
  • Conduct litigation or manage the case as your representative
  • Provide reserved legal services

Always subject to the court

The judge decides whether a McKenzie Friend may attend and what assistance is permitted. Speaking rights are not automatic and require specific permission.

I am not a solicitor or barrister and do not provide regulated legal advice. You are responsible for your case, decisions, documents and deadlines. If you need legal advice, urgent protection or specialist support, I will encourage you to contact an appropriately qualified professional or service.

Let’s work out what support would be useful.
